About
Bee is a multimedia conceptual artist. She stitches together personal memoir with bastardized American cultural fragments to create humorous and critical soundscapes, installations, performances, video, prints, wearables, and text.
She is interested in minor ephemera from quotidian experiences; like bodily byproducts, text messages, media utterances, semiotics, and language.
She prioritizes low-fi processes and editing programs when weaving together these fragments—and is interested in content/immediacy/affect—more than technical mastery or formalities.
She often deals with themes related to feminine gendered expectations, girlhood, queer representation, interpersonal relationships, and social belonging. Her work invites viewers to joyfully disobey dominant culture’s prescriptions—its coherence, its cleanliness, its hegemony.
